Who we are

Scientists on Standby is a not-for-profit initiative created by BioStrata Ltd., a specialist life science marketing agency. It was created as the ex-scientists in our team wanted a way to put themselves forward as overflow technical expertise to help with coronavirus testing, should additional support be required by the UK government and the UK healthcare services.

Registration form

In some areas of the Scientists on Standby website, you will find opportunities to share personal information including your name, address, email address, telephone number and relevant experience by using a contact form. We are collecting this data to compile a list of volunteers with laboratory experience, who the UK government could call upon to help with diagnostic testing for coronavirus infection and immunity, should the supply of skilled laboratory staff prove a limiting factor in the fight against the virus outbreak. By filling in this form, you are consenting for us to use this data for this purpose only.

Who we share your data with

If you complete a form on the Scientists on Standby website, the data provided will be stored within our secure customer relationship management system, HubSpot. Only the information you provide as part of the form will be processed and stored, however, our HubSpot cookies are linked to delivering a customised experience for each browser. Therefore, if you provide your contact details by filling in one of our contact forms, these details will be stored and used to identify future visits. We do this so that we can optimise the content each individual interacts with and make the browsing experience more personal. Please rest assured, we do not share any tracking data with any third parties and use this information purely to improve and tailor your browsing experience on the Scientists on Standby website.

Where we send your data

We are currently working with organisations like Public Health England to identify the best way to maintain and share this database of volunteers. As it stands, your data will not be shared with anyone outside of BioStrata Ltd. When we have more details on how this database will be managed, we will share them with you by email. Before we share any of your data with a third-party, you will be informed via email as to who has requested the data and why.
